Back with Mario and Luigi, the plumber brothers had been back on the journey again for a good day since they were given the mission to rescue Princess Rubina. They had heard from some of the people of the inn, heard the news of the capture of the mushroom kingdom's ruby gem. Which left the people worried sick and scared for Princess Rubina. The brothers knew that Peach had made the announcement of her twin being in the captive of Bowser.
"I can imagine what the family and kingdom is going through in hearing about Rubina's capture." Luigi stated as they both walked through the grass areas as they would be climbing higher later on to travel to the volcanic or Bowser's kingdom.
"The people had the right to know dear brother. Those who knows of Rubina knows that it wasn't easy for her to make the choice. It's not easy being a princess." Mario told Luigi as the jumped on to another platform and continued.
"I don't wanna think how hard it must be for the other princesses. It must be hard work to be royalty." Luigi said as he thought about the other princesses they know. Mostly Daisy who had just as amount of work.
Mario could only nod in agreement however he thought about Rubina's life as a princess. The red hair woman never really went out or had other duties. If she did then it was on very rare occasions. He also picked up that Peach had been rather overprotective of Ruby of late. He thought a bit that she was trying to protect her sister. But even that had it's limits.
"Hi Luigi, how would you have felt if I had started to feel overprotective of you?" Mario asked as they still continued even stopping a few troopers that tried to stop them. Luigi stared at him because of his question. Then he gave his answer after some thought.
"I wouldn't like that, I would've been frustrated and confuse if you were like that. As to why you would try to do that in the first place if you already know I can fight and defend myself. Plus if you only let me go to certain places that you only picked. I would have been angry about it as it isn't exactly what I want." Luigi told his brother as they jumped up.
With that thought about his brother's answer. He started to think about Ruby's situation and her status as second princess. He knew that Peach loved her twin sister with her whole heart. She would do anything to keep her safe. However with her only choosing what and where Peach wanted Rubina to go. He can understand why Ruby felt frustrated and anger that her family wouldn't let her do anything else then just throne duty.
"I wonder how things would go if Ruby is to be return home. I hope Peach won't lock her up and never let her leave her room let alone the kingdom." Mario said as they started to run.
"Is that why you asked me that question?" Luigi asked as they jumped on a few shrooms and continued to run.
"Yes, I picked up how tense things have been in the kingdom. Mostly if Ruby were to be in the same room as her father and Peach." Mario told him as they both walked now and seeing a town coming up close.
"I think it has something to do with the fact that Peach was hiding a few things from Ruby. Mostly when it came to Bowser." Luigi told his brother.
"Huh? What do you mean by that and where did you get this information?" Mario asked with a brow up.
"From Daisy. She wanted to talk to me about something and decided to gossip about what she heard from Peach." Luigi told the truth.
Both brothers stopped shocked at this and understand why Rubina had been so sad and frustrated. Mario sighed as he placed his hand over his eyes as he understood this now and of how Ruby had been dressing up of late.
"Good grief! Now I feel very sorry for Cherry." Mario said as he removed his had from his eyes, "I know Peach wants to protect Cherry but she should know that Rubina can take care of herself. She's not her twin for nothing."
