EP20 METRO EAST PLUS The Republican, Wednesday, December 27, 2006 OBITUARIES Alma T. McDonald MONSON Alma T. (Yandow) McDonald, 85, of Munn Road, died Dec. 14 in Mary Lyon Skilled Care Center. Born Oct.

17, 1921, in North Adams, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Paradee) Yandow. Mrs. McDonald came to Monson when she was very young and has resided here ever since. Alma raised her children while working on the family farm then became a school bus driver for the towns of Monson and Wales for 16 years. She also worked as a secretary for her son's business, McDonald's Builders.

She was a member of the Monson Senior Center and in her leisure she loved to travel, including traveling crosscountry many times. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick L. McDonald in 1991; a daughter Mary Ellen, and a sister, Doris Hope. She is survived by six children, Donald Pelletier and his wife Gail, John Pelletier and his wife Debbie, Judith Haas and her husband Gary, Frederick L. McDonald III, Susan McHand, and Thomas McDonald and his wife Laurette, all of Monson.

She also leaves two sisters, Yvonne McClosky of Monson and Anna Maliga of Springfield; 14 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A funeral service was held Dec. 19 in the Beers Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by burial in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Richard D. Miller LUDLOW Richard "Dick" Miller, 78, of Ludlow, was called home to be with God Dec. 13. Born in Springfield, he was a lifelong Ludlow resident, a faithful communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, and served his country honorably as a soldier in the Army during the Korean conflict.

He worked for many years with his uncle, E.K. Miller, at Miller's Dairy in Ludlow before retiring from the Friendly Corporation in 2000. Dick was a member of the Unity Athletic Club, a volunteer at the Hubbard Memorial Library, an avid bowler and a proud New York Yankees fan. He leaves his loving sister, Marjorie Miller Fogg of Marblehead; caring niece, Jennifer Disinger and her husband Randall of Medfield; cherished nephew, FredW. Fogg and his wife Hannah of Ridgewood, N.J.; and his adored grandnieces, Amelia, Kate and Avery.

Funeral services with military honors were held Dec. 19 from the Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. 16. Born in Springfield, son of the late Henry and Dora. (Morin) Desilets, he lived his youth in Chicopee Falls, graduating Chicopee High School in 1941, and moved to Ludlow in 1953. He worked for Westinghouse for over 30 years, and then for Hanson Pattern before his retirement in 1981. Armand was a faithful communicant of St.

John the Baptist Church, a member of the Ludlow Senior Center and the Portuguese American Citizens Club. He also had a love for golf and traveling and was an avid card player, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Armand was the beloved husband of 53 years to Celia (Fidalgo) Desilets; a loving father to Paul of Ludlow and Celene Filip and her husband Gerard of West Springfield; a dear brother of Larry Desilets of Chesapeake, Rita Anderson of Chicopee and the late Doris Anderson; a cherished grandfather to Tammy Russell and her husband Michael, Gerard Filip Jr. and his wife Tara, Nathan Filip, and Jenna Rosado and her husband Jonathan and great grandfather of Michael and Ryan Russell, Jonathan Rosado Jr. and Christopher Filip, all of West Springfield.

Funeral services were held Dec. 20 from Ludlow Funeral Home, with Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Donations may be made in Des's memory to St. John the Baptist Pastoral Fund, 217 Hubbard Ludlow, Ma.

MONSON Earle G. Hewinson 77, of Cote Road, died Dec. 15, at home. Born in Springfield, to the late Earle G. and Florida B.

(DeForge) He- winson he was a Navy and Army Veteran. Earle has been a resident of Monson for the last 53 years. He was a supervisor at Alamac Knitting Mills and then for Dan Wesson. He also worked for a period of time at Zero Manufacturing. He was a member of the Day Spring Lodge of Masons in Monson.

For many years he raised pheasants, peaco*cks and mallard ducks. He also enjoyed stamp collecting. Earle we predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Forbes) Hewinson, in 1997, and a son, Glenn Hewinson, in 1998. He leaves two sons, Bruce Hewinson of Monson and Jeffrey Hewinson of Vermont; and three daughters, Donna Keough and her husband James of Mason, Ohio, Laurie Chasse and her husband Joseph of Monson and Linda Sbrogna and her husband John of Leominster; a brother, Harold Hewinson of Holland; and nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lombard Funeral Home of Monson has been entrusted with arrangements. Stella J. Nowak LUDLOW Stella J. (Chambella) Nowak, of Boston and formerly of Ludlow, died Dec. 13.

Beloved wife of the late Anthony S. Loving mother of Joan A. Lavoie of Chicopee, Louis and his wife Ciscile Sliski of Ludlow, and Debra A. Nowak and her husband Dean Matsuno of Boston. Devoted grandmother of Michael and Christopher Lavoie, Timothy Sliski, and Anthony Mosquera.

Great-grandmother of Justin, Corey, Ashley, and Marc. Survived by many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass was held Dec. 18 in Christ the King Church. Late proprietor of Winton's House of Beauty, Palmer, for over 30 years.

(Tourville) Hebert, was Called Home Dec. 15. Besides his loving parents, he leaves his cherished brother and sister, Jonathan G. Lemieux and Jessica R. Lemieux, both of Belchertown; his loving grandparents, Edmond J.

Hebert of Springfield and Janice and Geno Nuzzolilli of East Longmeadow. Jack was predeceased by his grandmother, Gloria E. Hebert, who was Called Home July 31, 2000, and his grandfather, Floyd Tourville. A service of committal was.held Dec. 21 in the Mausoleum of Saint Michael the Archangel at Saint Michael Cemetery, Springfield.

His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, Springfield. Theodore PALMER Gus A.

Theodore, 81, of Central Street, died Dec. 19 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. Born in Palmer, Feb. 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Angelous) Theodore. Gus has lived in Palmer all of his life and was the fire chief for 34 years, before retiring in 1991.

His service to the town and its citizens will long be remembered. He was also the owner of the Walnut Street for over 40 years. Gus was a proud veteran, serving his country during World War II as a private, receiving a Purple Heart and five battle stars, along with the de crue gere of France and Belgium. He belonged to the American Legion Post 130, the Amvets Post 239 and the VFW. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57.

Donations may be made in his memory to Food Share, Central Street, Palmer, 01069. John M. Guerra LUDLOW John M. Guerra, 84, of Ludlow, died Dec. 19.

Born in Ludlow, the son of Antonio and Angela (Rebelo) Guerra, he was a lifelong resident and a faithful communicant of Mary of the Assumption Church. John was a graduate of Western New England College, a mechanical engineer and past president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He worked for Yahn Engineering, the Trabon Company and Lindco before his retirement in the middle 1990s He was also the founder of Guerra Industrial Sales. John took great pride in designing and building his own home. John belonged to the Ludlow Country Club and golfed several times a week.

well into his 80s. He was an accomplished musician, playing the clarinet, bass and guitar. He will always be remembered for his kindness, infectious laughter, generosity and his Halloween tradition of painting pumpkins for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Frances (Cristina) Guerra, who is church organist and choir director for St. Mary of the Assumption Church; loving children, Marcia Chwalek and her husband Ed of Hopkinton, David Guerra and his wife Margo of Putnam, John Guerra and his wife Suzanne of Concord, Grace McFarland and her husband Scott of Mays Landing, N.J., and Cristina Hepburn and her husband Bram of Eliot, Maine; caring brothers Serafim Guerra and wife Connie of Virginia, Charles Guerra of Maryland and James Guerra of Ludlow; cherished sister, Lourdes Lourenco and husband Manny of Ludlow and Grace Fitzsimmons of Virginia, and was predeceased by his baby brother He leaves his 12 adored grandchildren and three greatgrandsons.
