Department Overview

In Customer Care we are focused on delivering the desired customer experience for each of our customers. Everything we do starts with the customer and our information about the customer. That information is collected and managed by our Customer Experience Strategy group. Each of our organizations, though completely dependent upon each other, are the experts in their area and will further drive PG&Es alignment around the customer

Position Summary

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.

The CIP department is looking for individuals who are able to maintain a safe environment for themselves and customers at all times. CIP Inspectors perform various types of inspections including Energy Efficiency Measures installed by PG&E managed programs and Natural Gas Appliance Test (NGAT) in allotted timeframes. They ensure billed measures are present and safely installed to meet program standards. CIP Inspectors are responsible for scheduling, site visits, and accurate record keeping of daily logs and inspection results. The inspections may require climbing

ladders, crawling under houses, entering and working in attics, confined spaces to obtain various measurements (volume and square footage). Also, overnight travel and ad hoc overtime may be required based on business need.

* Candidates who reside within 50 minutes or 50 miles will be given first consideration.

*This position is a DOT covered classification and is subject to random drug screening.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License
  • Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime, and out of town if needed (scheduled or ad hoc)
  • Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Internal PG&E employees: Must have qualified on the Physical Test Battery (PTB) exam prior to applying and Work Orientation Inventory (WOI)
  • External and Hiring Hall candidates: Must qualify on the Physical Test Battery (PTB) exam and Work Orientation Inventory (WOI) prior to interviewing
  • Must successfully complete the Post Offer Physical Assessment (POPA)

Desired:

  • 2+ years experience in plumbing, construction, or basic electrical skills
  • 2+ years experience in customer service
  • Resides within 50 miles of Headquartered location
  • Successful completion of Building Performance Institute (BPI) training courses
  • Demonstrated experience with furnace installation, repair and/or trouble shooting
  • Demonstrated experience with gas line troubleshooting and repair
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office products word, outlook, and excel
  • Relevant experience as a PG&E employee
  • -Relevant experience as a Hiring Hall
  • Graduate from a Power Pathway Program

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize Company vehicle to perform on-site inspection work for residential and commercial customers to insure weatherization and energy efficiency measures are installed to program standards including safety, feasibility and quantity verifications.
  • Perform NGAT as needed to assure safe operation of residential gas appliances.
  • Accurately Input inspections results into issued laptop while onsite.
  • Operate motor vehicles legally and safely as required by State Vehicle Codes and PG&E policy.
